The History

DVK Global Supply Chain Finance traces its roots back to the 1900s, when the grandfather of its founder Deepak Kuntawala began supplying blankets and clothing to the British Army in Zambia.

Deepak’s grandfather began building his empire through the textiles and clothing trade with his department store Kuntawala & Co, which became one of South Africa’s leading department stores.

When Deepak’s family immigrated to the UK in the late 1970’s, Deepak and his brothers emulated his father’s success by creating the London based Kayson’s trading. Honing in from the experience of Kuntawala & Co, Kayson’s were able to distribute goods to companies in the UK where they were rapidly involved in a variety of sectors.

In 2000 Deepak launched his own business, his inherited pool of knowledge proved useful as he created a dedicated giftware company called DVK Giftware which supplied major UK department stores like TK Maxx and Tesco with own-design and imported goods. Just six years after the birth of DVK Giftware, Deepak used his expertise and knowledge to take the reins of the family business. This lead to the merger of Kayson’s trading with DVK Giftware to create the DVK Group.

Deepak built on his considerable understanding of financing global supply chain requirements, but became frustrated by the lack of support from banks, with their failure to meet the demands of organisations such as the DVK Group. This is where Deepak began to look to private business partners to support supply chain transactions.

In 2007, DVK Global Supply Chain Finance was established, with a trade finance facility set up for buyers in Hong Kong and a finance partnership set up in the UK. This followed a period of rapid expansion, and partnering with trade finance organisations across the globe.

Today, with a mission to maximise working capital throughout the supply chain for buyers and sellers, DVK Global supply chain Finance’s international network of clients includes; manufacturers, suppliers, producers, agents, traders, importers, financial institutions, banks, private equity/hedge funds and specialist trade and commodity finance houses.

Alongside the London and Hong Kong offices, the Group has unique links with China and Asia with a global presence in Europe, Africa, South America the Far East and the Baltic States.
